...FASHION, what is F A S H I O N?!

So last night I had a debate with someone over fashion. I referred to Louis Vuitton, Prada, and Gucci as "hood". In which he must have been extremely offended because he responded as if I was talking bad about his mother. Okay so here's my attempt to explain why I refer to them as such because, clearly he wasn't going to let me get my point across and I was not going to continue to persuade someone who was deaf to my ideals.
First off Louis Vuitton, Gucci, and Prada are all exquisite brands. The collections continue to appeal to me and many of the newer less monogrammed sport wear is cute. However, the hip hop and minority community in my opinion, have outworn these labels. When people define themselves as "hood rich" they're sporting such labels with overly monogrammed designs and they call themselves "fly" or fashionable. In which I simply beg to differ.
So why did I entitle this post "...FASHION, what is F A S H I O N?!". Well the argument began over our definitions of fashion. Of course before I approved him as a follower I clicked on his URL and his definition of being this "fly dude" was with overly monogrammed Gucci, Louis, Fendi and etc. But when I began to say your definition of fashion and mine differed, he claimed he appreciated all aspects of fashion, but in fact deemed himself as the "fliest n*gga in Brooklyn"?! NO! It simply does not work that way.
For me fashion begins on a blank canvas. When they say it's not what you wear but how you wear it, it's very true. Fashion begins with the person, you are indeed the canvas which will make or break the colors and textures you put together. Hair, make-up, and accessories are all important aspects that go into creating the look. What looks well on one person doesn't look well on the next. Labels do not define me. I don't need an emblem to know what I'm wearing looks well or is hot. Less is definitely more. I can make the most simplest of outfits look hot, try me! For me textures is what I need. I like to feel my clothes before I try them on. Try that one day just close your eyes and touch the product. There's a BIG difference. But yeah I mean if you disagree, agree, whatever feel free to comment. I just had to point that out.
